This is me taking a picture after participating in the Vagina Monologues at my school. Both my parents are Mexican immigrants, and although I was born here I am very in touch with my Mexican culture and history. The theme was Women of the World, and I represented Mexico with a Tehuana outfit from Oaxaca. :) I relate to the afro-mexican identity because of certain physiological features but my family does not acknowledge or know if we have any african ancestry. I am the first female president of the Mexican American Progress Movement, a youthled nonprofit in my hometown.
